For one day, movie theaters, churches, small groups and individual families worldwide will joined to share the transformative story of the birth of Jesus “Why the Nativity?” in 20 major cities, with additional showings in churches and homes nationwide. Internationally, the film released in 11 languages across theaters, churches and homes on six continents and in 30 different countries.
The feature-length docudrama examines the most pivotal moment in human history by exploring questions, facts and history seldom seen in traditional nativity stories. The message of “stable peace in an unstable world” reached 22 million online viewers and eight million households through television outlets in both English and Spanish in its first year. Last year, the film was released in four additional languages — Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic and Telugu — reaching more than 300 million people.
This year, Jeremiah and Turning Point Productions hoped to reach one billion people with the hope of the gospel.
Jeremiah, along with senior members of the Turning Point staff, recently joined thousands of participants to pray for the cities, churches and individuals participating in Reach the World Day They also prayed for the individuals on the call who submitted a personal prayer request.
“What we do today can impact eternity,” Jeremiah said. “Each of us is called to take the gospel to the world. We may do it in different ways and avenues, but it should be the shared goal of every Christian. What an opportunity we had with that prayer call and with Reach the World Day. My prayer is that we will capture the hearts of people.”
