Angel Studios Offers Faith-Based Viewing Options During January Blizzard Downtime
January is a good time to rest up from the busy holiday season and catch up on faith-based entertainment. Angel Studios continues to expand its offerings with several feature films and streaming shows on its Angel.com and Angel app platforms. The studio is releasing the feature film “Brave the Dark” in theaters nationwide on January 24.
“We have been hard at work preparing our theatrical and streaming slate for the new year,” said David Fischer, director of business affairs and acquisitions. “It’s truly an honor to partner with such outstanding directors, producers, animators and comedians who have inspiring stories and entertainment that amplify light.”
Highlighting the studio’s commitment to diverse storytelling, the January lineup offers a range of inspiring content:
• “Bonhoeffer” is the untold story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. As the world teeters on the brink of annihilation, Bonhoeffer joins a deadly plot to assassinate Hitler, risking his faith and fate to save millions of Jews from genocide.
• “Breaking into Beautiful” chronicles the life of Kim White, a young wife and mother known to the world on Instagram as @KimCanKickIt. Now a trend on TikTok, White is considered one of the first “illness influencers,” amassing hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram by courageously sharing the beautiful and the messy of life throughout her ongoing battle with a rare cancer.
• “Tuttle Tuesday,” in which the twins’ school suddenly is trapped in an endless food fight, and no one knows who’s behind it. Determined to get answers, they visit President Eisenhower himself, learning about the military-industrial complex along the way. Armed with this knowledge, they return to solve the mystery, plunging into a film noir-style adventure that leads them through dark alleys, suspicious motives and quirky characters.
• In “Seven Days in Utopia,” Luke Chisolm has the drive to become a professional golfer. Just when he’s on the verge of going pro, however, he buckles under the pressure. In the aftermath of that crushing disappointment, Luke vanishes from the spotlight, uncertain if he’ll ever return to the game again. Luke is driving through Texas when he crashes his car in the town of Utopia, and strikes up a friendship with Johnny Crawford, a rancher who knows more about the game of golf than the troubled young visitor realizes. Now, the more time Luke spends with Johnny, the more he begins to see life from a new perspective that will not only help Luke to make sense of where he’s been in life but where he’s headed as well.
• “Funny Friday” (January 10). Christy Conder converses on competitiveness at hypothetical pageants, her airplane-exclusive allergies and the challenges of children’s ministry.
• “Funny Friday” (January 17). Comedian Maureen Langan has a wakeup call ringing for the young, hot, rich or famous. Luckily for them, she comes with subtitles.
• “Hoovey” (January 23). When promising high school basketball player Eric “Hoovey” Elliott collapses from a life-threatening brain tumor, his dreams seem shattered. With faith, determination and unwavering family support, he fights to recover and return to the court. Based on a true story, “Hoovey” is an inspiring tale of resilience and the power of faith in overcoming life’s greatest challenges, proving that with hope and perseverance, anything is possible.
• “Brave the Dark” (in theaters January 24). When Mr. Deen discovers one of his students has been living out of his car and thrown into jail, he decides to bail him out. Determined to curb Nate’s self-destructive behavior, Mr. Deen quickly discovers a host of dark secrets that slowly are tearing Nate apart. What started as a good deed becomes a desperate fight to save Nate from his own demons. As Nate spirals deeper into despair, Mr. Deen must decide how far he’s willing to go to save a kid on the brink of losing everything — even himself.
