Kansas, Missouri Top Nation in Pizza, Wing Stats

The recent Kansas City region blizzard meant big business for pizza delivery services, coinciding with new data showing Kansas leads the nation in pizza consumption. According to Pizza Hut’s 2025 Pizza Trends Report, Kansans consume an average of 9.4 slices monthly, while Missouri ranks third among states most likely to pair their pizza with wings.

The comprehensive industry analysis predicts 2025 will see increased pizza consumption, with one-third of respondents expecting to eat more pizza than in 2024. The report reveals several fascinating trends about America’s pizza preferences:

The average American devours 288 slices of pizza annually, demonstrating the nation’s enduring love affair with this popular food. More than half of pizza enthusiasts agree that wings are the ultimate complementary pairing, with 52 percent believing wings enhance their pizza experience.

Pizza Today’s 2025 Industry Report highlights that dipping sauces have become a crucial part of the pizza experience, with over half of respondents regularly dipping their slices for extra flavor.

When it comes to toppings, mushrooms reign supreme at 57 percent popularity, followed by garlic (41 percent) and pineapple (38 percent). Less conventional choices include anchovies and pickles (both 8 percent) and cherries (2 percent).

New York-style pizza continues its dominance, with 29 percent of respondents declaring it their favorite. Chicago Deep Dish follows at 22 percent, while Sicilian Style (8 percent) and Detroit Style (4 percent) round out the top choices.

The survey also revealed interesting trade-offs pizza lovers would make: 18 percent would abandon social media for a year in exchange for daily free pizza. Others would give up alcohol (28 percent), coffee (20 percent), or sweets (14 percent).

When asked about their dream pizza-sharing companion, Morgan Freeman topped the list at 9 percent, followed by Taylor Swift (7 percent), Paul McCartney (7 percent), Joe Rogan (6 percent), and George Clooney (5 percent).
